Rise & Shine Players Mission

Rise & Shine Players℠ is a youth theater company, enriching the homeschool community in and around Harrisburg, NC since 2013.

OUR MISSION is to foster an inspiring environment where youth can:

1.  Develop leadership skills,

2.  Build confidence to take risks,

3.  Find success through teamwork, and

4.  Enrich their community through the Arts.

Meet Our Director

CJ Higginbotham is a director, stage manager, and theatre teacher to children ages 2-18. She grew up acting in the Charlotte area starting at 7 years old, and never looked back! CJ has a strong passion for self-expression through theatre, and for nurturing young creative minds as they explore the joy and art of storytelling. She serves as a Teaching Artist at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and as the Assistant Director/Stage Manager for middle and lower school productions at Charlotte Christian School. Alongside her directing and teaching projects, CJ is a current student at UNC Charlotte, pursuing Psychology and Criminal Justice.

Meet Our Producer

Katie Griffin is a homeschooling mother of 7 children, ages 3 to 20, and the wife to the best man she’s ever met…21 years and counting! She’s also a registered nurse and a small business owner.

Rise & Shine Players was born of her children’s desire to participate in performance theater, and Katie’s desire for a high-quality local experience offered during the day for homeschoolers.  Katie views Rise and Shine Players as her way to help enrich and support the local homeschool community.
